16.12.2006
The new procedure establishes single rules for the preparation and formalization of citizens’ associations and other civic formations, as well as on cancelling their registration

The Ministry of Justice has simplified the procedure for gaining legal status in Ministry of Justice bodies of citizens’ associations and other civic formations. The changes are set down in the Order of the Ministry of Justice “On approving the procedure for preparing and formalizing decisions on the legalization of citizens’ associations and other civic formations” which will come into force on 17 December 2006.

According to the Minister of Justice Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the new procedure establishes single rules for the preparation and formalization of citizens’ associations and other civic formations, as well as on cancelling their registration. In addition, the new procedure is aimed at coordinating the approach of the Ministry of Justice and its territorial agencies with regard to issues of legalization of citizens’ associations.

Oleksandr Lavrynovych stated that as of the present time and in accordance with legislation Ministry of Justice agencies register up to ten different types of associations (trade unions, international civic organizations, charities, creative unions, etc), a number of different types of civic formations (trade and industry chambers, permanent arbitration courts, organizations of employers, associations of credit unions, etc), as well as political parties and their structural branches.

From now on decisions on registration of all without exception citizens’ associations or refusals to register them, as well as registration of amendments to their charter documentation will be formalized by Orders of the Ministry of Justice and will be signed by the latter.
