Requiem gathering in Ivano-Frankivsk to mark the twenty first anniversary of Chernobyl

On 26 April it will be 21 years since one of the most terrible manmade catastrophes in human history – the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. According to the press service of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional administration, a requiem gathering will be held in memory.

The region holds 13,227 people who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl Disaster, 3,835 of them children. There are 908 people with disability status as a result.

In the Snyatynsky district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where the villages Stetseva, Stetsivka, Potichok, Rusiv and Pidvyskoke are considered part of the zone of heightened radiation and environmental monitoring, there are 7,211 people who suffered, of which 1,761 are children.
