Ukraine’s Institute of National Remembrance is to prepare new history textbooks. This is one of the elements in a plan of measures aimed at achieving priorities for the activities of the central authorities, approved by a Cabinet of Ministers Instruction from 2 April 2008 (No. 569-i).

According to the plan, in order to reinstate and preserve the national memory of the Ukrainian people, the Institute of National Remembrance has been instructed to draw up new textbooks on Ukrainian history “in order to help bring up the younger generation in a spirit recognizing their national identity, respect and love for their native land”.

In addition, the Institute of National Remembrance has been asked to draw up in May a draft Nationwide National and Cultural Programme for Research of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine, and the immortalization of its victims up to 2012,  It is also to prepare and issue a National Book of Remembrance “Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine” during the year.

Finally, the Institute of National Remembrance should also carry out measures during the year for creating the proper conditions for the functioning of the historical memorial reserve “Bykivnya Graves”.
