Rivne Court orders dismantling of protesters’ tents

The court thus acceded to the application of the Mayor of Rivne and ordered the tents erected by the Rinve Regional Committee against Dictatorship to be dismantled for the period from 23 to 29 August,. This covers Independence Day and President Yanukovych’s planned visit to the city

 

On Monday evening the Rivne District Administrative Court allowed the suit lodged by the Mayor of Rivne, Volodymyr Khomko against the Rinve Regional Committee against Dictatorship.  Khomko demanded that the tent camp be dismantled for the period from 23 to 29 August, giving as his grounds fears of disorder and provocation which could pose danger to the children present at the festivities.

The court ruling was announced by Judge Oksana Dudar.

The tent camp  has been erected on the central square. It was organized by a number of opposition parties to demonstrate support for the remanded in custody former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former Minister of Internal Affairs, members of the Svoboda and Tryzub organizations, as well as detained participants in the tax code protests in November 2010.
