Media accused of facilitating dodgy tactics on Election Day

Ukraine’s National Union of Journalsits has condemned media publications who issued outsiders with journalist ID. It says that in so doing they encouraged dirty election manipulation.

In its press release, the Union says it is initiating a campaign of civic condemnation of such media publications. The practice of widescale issue of journalist ID it says is shameful and discredits modern Ukrainian journalism at a time when the level of trust in this is already extremely low. “People with no connection to journalism use temporary editorial office ID to get into polling stations and election districts and obstruct the normal conditions of work of the commission. It is frustrating that our colleagues, media editors make this possible by issuing ID on a large scale to people far removed from journalism”.
