Around 20 volunteer medics injured by police on Hrushevsky St

The medical service stresses that the law enforcement officers’ actions against volunteers providing medical aid to wounded activists were unacceptable and in breach of the Geneva Convention

On Wednesday the head of the National Resistance Headquarters medical service, Sviatoslav Khanenko reported that roughly 20 volunteers had been hurt by law enforcement officers during the confrontation on Hrushevsky St in Kyiv.

The medical service stresses that the law enforcement officers’ actions against volunteers providing medical aid to wounded activists were unacceptable and in breach of the Geneva Convention. .

Oleh Musiy, coordinator of the medical service, says that they have sent a letter to European bodies regarding the unacceptable interference by enforcement bodies in the work of Maidan medical staff.

The medical service also reports that during the confrontation near the Dynamo Stadium around 100 protesters were injured.  There were 6 confirmed casualties and there are people who remain missing.

Medical aid is now being received from the Czech Reputblic; Germany; Latvia and Canada.  Lithuania and Poland will be receiving around 10 wounded activists for treatment.

The confrontation between some protesters and enforcement officers on Hrushevsky St began on Jan 19, 2 days after the president, Viktor Yanukovych signed the gravely
