Police turn a blind eye to the Party of the Regions politician who used a pistol on 9 May in Lviv
According to the Press Service of the right-wing Svoboda party, seven of whose members have been detained accused of “hooliganism” during the conflict on 9 May in Lviv, the police have refused to initiate a criminal investigation against Sviatoslav Solilnyk who began shooting in Lviv that day. Solilnyk used a shock pistol with prohibited cartridges, wounding the Aide to Lviv City Council Deputy Oleh Kovpak.
At the local elections this year Sviatoslav Solilnyk stood for office for the Vynnykiv City Council as No. 3 in the Party of the Regions list. He is the son of a police colonel who is presently Aide to the Head of the Lviv Regional Police.
The police have also refused to initiate a criminal investigation against the police officer who injured member of the Svoboda Party Volodymyr Vasylenko on 9 May.
