A day after police carried out a search of her home and interrogated her for six hours at the police station for several hours, Liza Bohutska has left the Crimea.  She told the Centre for Journalist Investigations that she was hoping the move would be temporary.

She explained that she had left at right, fearing that in the morning they could return to shoot her dog claiming that they needed some kind of signatures from her. “I decided that I would write articles better at liberty, than not write them in prison. I’m alone. The children and my husband have remained in Simferopol. But I don’t think that pressure will be put on them. That would be too open and flagrant”.

Bohutska is a well-known activist and blogger who writes hard-hitting articles and does not conceal her opposition to Russia’s annexation of the Crimea.

The police arrived on Monday morning, supposedly looking for weapons, drugs or prohibited literature. They then took her to the police station and removed all her computer technology.  More details at http://khpg.org.ua/en/index.php?id=1410188525
