Karpachova decides to hand in her parliamentary mandate
The Human Rights Ombudsperson, State Deputy Nina Karpachova is planning to renounce her deputys mandate.
In an interview given to UNIA she stated that she had written a formal application to renounce her parliamentary office, and that she did not intend to change her mind.
UNIAN reports that on 11 September the first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Adam Martynyuk said that there was an official statement from Ms Karpachova of her intention to remain a deputy. At the same time he could not exclude the possibility that over a few days she had changed her mind, given that she still has three years remaining of her tenure as Human Rights Ombudsperson.
Nina Karpachova was elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the voter list of the Party of the Regions earlier this year.
