MIA to be responsible for investigating murders, manslaughter and some other crimes
The amendments just passed to the Criminal Procedure Code remove such crimes as murder, manslaughter, driving a person to suicide and others from the jurisdiction of the investigation bodies of the prosecutors office and place them with the Ministry of Internal Affairs investigation units
The Verkhovna Rada as passed in full the Law “On amendments to Article 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 2216, introduced by the President.
The amendments remove such crimes as murder, manslaughter, driving a person to suicide and others from the jurisdiction of the investigation bodies of the prosecutors office and place them with the Ministry of Internal Affairs investigation units.
Cases presently under investigation will be continued by the body which launched the criminal investigation.
The Criminal Procedure Code was passed on 28 December 1960. The draft law mentioned here was passed in its first reading on 9 January 2007 as a basis.
