The Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission Andriy Mahepa says that Ukrainians returning from abroad just before the elections will be able to vote by turning to the court.

“According to constitutional provisions, a person can approach the court to assert his or her violated rights. The problem will be how to implement this since the voter lists will already be closed, and there’ll be nowhere to put the person”.

Prior to this, the Head of the Commission Volodymyr Shapoval had acknowledged that Ukrainian nationals returning home less than three days before the elections would find it difficult to get their names put back on the voter lists. He expressed the hope that a timely decision from the Constitutional Court would resolve this problem following the President’s constitutional submission asking for an assessment of the norm in question.
