Daily Telegraph apologises for false Hitler doll report
We are posting here the apology which the Daily Telegraph issued over their misleading report of 22 April. The Telegraph has agreed to post it for at least a week.
We are extremely grateful to the Press Complaints Commission for their kind assistance in resolving this dispute. The Commission will be posting a short summary of the case on its site.
We hope that such regrettable lapses will not reoccur and that all media outlets will endeavour to check information sources and ensure that they quote original sources and where these are in a foreign language, make entirely certain that they are not distorting an original text.
Adolf Hitler doll
On 22 April we published an agency report that a toy manufacturer in the Ukraine was to sell Adolf Hitler dolls.
We have been asked to point out that this doll was not widely available, no Ukrainian toy manufacturer was involved and the doll was manufactured in Taiwan. There are no plans for further sales.
We apologise for any offence caused.
