New ruling against the Prosecutor General regarding a refugee

On 25 November the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal rejected an appeal lodged by the Prosecutor General against the ruling of the District Administrative Court in Kyiv from 21 July 2008.

This was one of three rulings passed by the same court on that day with Judge Keleberda presiding. One of the recognized refugees, Oleg Kuznetsov, whose status had been confirmed by the District Court, was handed over to Russia on 28 July 2008.

This elicited outrage from human rights groups and calls for the Prosecutor General to resign or be dismissed.  Those calls remain current.

Viktor Kreidych and Yekateryna Dubovyk remain in custody.  The appeal examination in Ms Dubovyk’s case is scheduled for 2 December 2007.
