European Parliament to monitor the local elections in Ukraine
21.10.2010
It was announced on Wednesday that the European Parliament has adopted a decision to send a delegation to Ukraine to follow the 31 October local elections. The statement says that they are not sending official observers but will follow the elections and ensure the political presence of the European Parliament.
The delegation will be made up of the MEPs in the delegation on contact with Ukraine, and will be headed by that delegation’s Co-Chair Pavel Kowal, from Poland.
The final number of MEPs is not known since the list is open. There was a meeting in Ukraine scheduled anyway for 30 October and it has been decided to extend this stay.
