Court again bans mass events in the centre of Kyiv

The District Administrative Court in Kyiv has now banned mass events in the centre from 27 November to 3 December.

The Kyiv City State Administration’s Press Service inform that in connection with an official visit by foreign guests from 1 to 3 December, as well as the relevant applications from the Kyiv Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Department for State Security they lodged the application for restrictions with the court.

The court has banned peaceful gatherings by organizations and individuals who had provided the KCSA with the relevant notification of their plans. These, of course, include the organizations involved in the present demonstrations on Maidan Nezalezhnosti [Independence Square].

Thus far the authorities are not dispersing the protest, however the fact of the application, the justification for it, and the fact that a court ban is in force, are all disturbing.
