Prosecution accuses Lutsenko over press interviews
The Prosecution has claimed that Yury Lutsenko, former Minister of Internal Affairs in Yulia Tymoshenko’s government, obstructed the investigation into criminal cases against him by giving interviews to the UNIAN Information Agency and the weekly Dzerkalo Tyzhnya.
This was reported by the Internet publication Ukrainska Pravda citing their own sources in the court relating the Prosecutor’s words.
According to this source, the change in preventive measure from written undertaking not to abscond to remand in custody (for two months) was over alleged avoidance of the investigators.
The Deputy Editor of Dzerkalo Tyzhnya did not have any comments to make and Telekritika has asked UNIAN for a commentary.
Ukrainska Pravda also reports that Yury Lutsenko was taken out of the courtroom before the court ruling to remand him in custody was announced. He had been answering questions from Ukrainska Pravda and the guard stated that in the courtroom it was permitted to only video.
