Court bans all but official events in Lviv on 22 June

22.06.2011

On Tuesday the Lviv District Administrative Court allowed an application from the Lviv City Council to ban all mass events in Lviv on 22 June, the seventieth anniversary of the invasion of the Soviet Union by Nazi Germany. On Wednesday only official events can be held.

The Lviv City Council prepared an application on 20 June, after they received two notifications of plans to hold events on 22 June in the same place and at the same time.  One was from the “Jews against Anti-Semitism” Committee and “Jews against Gurvits” Committee, as well as the civic organization Sokil Others included the “Russian Movement of Ukraine”, the Stalin Party and the organization “For Ukraine, Belarus and Russia”.  Please see the statement issued by VAAD, the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities regarding the first two organizations http://khpg.org/en/1308611765.
