Viktor Pshonka said on Wednesday that they plan to get assessments of the grounds for closing criminal files, and for the decisions of the then Prosecutor General and even the courts which also ruled that investigations should be terminated

The Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka stated on Wednesday that he wants to give a more detailed legal assessment of the criminal investigations against Yulia Tymoshenko which were terminated in 2005.

“There is indeed a decision passed by Piskun [the Prosecutor General at that time], it has often been talked about, about his decision in 2005. I consider that a more detailed legal assessment should also be given of it.  Let’s wait to see what legal assessment will be given, including, whether those decisions are today recognized as legal or illegal”.

Pshonka mentioned that besides the investigations terminated at the decision of Prosecutor General Piskun, there are files closed also by the courts.

He said that in his opinion it was also necessary to check whether there had not been haste, or violation of the law when closing the criminal files in relation to Tymoshenko in Ukrainian courts.
