It is a bad sign that the only logical decision by the courts should be surprising, however Thursday’s decision by a judge to release Vasyl Gruzynov on a signed undertaking not to abscond came as a welcome surprise.  After a week in custody, it had seemed probable that Vasyl Gruzynov would be remanded in custody, over his alleged role in the alleged “damage” to the granite stone on Maidan Nezalezhnosti [Independence Square] in Kyiv during the peaceful protest by many thousands of small business owners on Maidan in late November last year. the Holosiyivsky District Court in Kyiv released
