Interfax Ukraine reports that the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday refused to add consideration of a motion to decriminalize Article 365 of the Criminal Code on the agenda. The norm in question is on abuse of office and it is that which the former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Yulia Tymoshenko was charged with in connection with the gas accords signed with Russia at the beginning of 2009.

The motion to have the issue placed on the agenda got 156 votes, thus clearly failing to get any support from the governing majority, made up primarily of the Party of the Regions.
