A Kyiv court has found two people guilty of administrative offences over the lazer-beaming of a slogan calling for Tymoshenko’s release

According to the Batkivshchyna Party (led by imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko), the Shevchenkivsky District Court in Kyiv has found two people guilty of administrative offences over the lazer-beaming of a slogan calling for Tymoshenko’s release.  Each was fined 170 UAH. Andriy Pavlovsky, BYUT-Batkivshchyna deputy said that the court had not given any reasons for the ruling.

On New Year’s Eve a portrait of Yulia Tymoshenko was beamed onto the side of the Philharmonic Society building in the centre, together with a slogan demanding her release. Interfax-Ukraine reported at the time that two people had been charged with unauthorized use of laser beam equipment

The slogan "Freedom to Yulia" appeared during the New Year show on Independence Square.
The Kyiv police authority said in a statement that the laser had been beamed from a room in the Kozatsky hotel.
The Batkivshchyna Party said on Sunday that five men in uniform had burst into a into a room at the Kozatsky Hotel where Andriy Pavlovsky was seeing the New Year in with friends
