Opposition claims their candidate is being harassed in Donetsk
The Donetsk Police have admitted that a parliamentary candidate from the United Opposition was summoned for questioning on 3 August but say that this was in connection with a report from a member of the public. Their statement asserts that V Derkach was called to the station at 11.00 on 3 August following a report from a Donetsk resident accusing Mr Derkach of inflicting injuries upon him.
The press had earlier published a statement from the United Opposition Press Service asserting that their candidate for No. 41 single-mandate electoral district in Donetsk had had several criminal cases opened against him, with this coming after the candidate lists had been made public.
