Only 6% of Ukrainians would want parliament to elect the President

As always, the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and Razumkov Centre have published the results of a survey carried out on the eve of Constitution Day (28 June).
An absolute majority (66) believe that events in Ukraine are going the wrong way. Only 15% said that they were moving in the right direction, with the others undecided.
In October 2009 (under the previous President, 6.9% saw the country as heading in the right direction; 81.1% in the wrong direction.
In June 2010, three months into Yanukovych’s Presidency, 41.3% said the country was on the right track; 32.2% - the wrong track.
By November 2010 the ratio was 20.4% to 53.9%
In 2013 15.4% against 65.9%
Only 6% of the respondents would support the President being elected by parliament, with 85% against.

54.4% of the respondents preferred a parliamentary-presidential or presidential-parliamentary republic where both Parliament and President form the government and have powers for mutual control. Only 14.7% supported a Presidential republic. 2.1 % supported dictatorship where the country’s leader has unlimited power.
