Over the last two months, the program  “Families without violence” has been carrying out awareness raising measures aimed at preventing violence against children in the family in various districts of the Kherson region.

In the Skadovsk, Chaplynsk and Hornostyivsk districts there were information and awareness raising “forays”. The programs included a performance entitled “We’re against violence” for children of grades 6 and 7, a documentary film “So if he hits me, does he love me?” for older students of colleges and vocational schools, a roundtable “Interaction of state institutions in carrying out preventive measures to avert violence in the family” for representatives of the local social services and state institutions.

From 28 – 29 September a seminar was held in Henichesk on “Implementing measures to prevent violence in the family: cooperation between the authorities and the public” for officials. Over two days the seminar participants learned new methods for working with victims of domestic violence, discussed existing mechanisms for cooperation between the authorities and the community on prevention of violence in families in rural areas and steps for improving such mechanisms.

The next “Families without violence” training seminar will be held from 26 – 28 October in Kakhovka.

The program “Families without violence” is being implemented in the Kherson region by the civic youth organization “New Generation” in partnership with the Kherson Regional Centre “Successful woman”, with the financial support of the European Union.
