Poland calls on Belarus to free all political prisoners

The higher chambers of the Polish Sejm have unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Belarusian authorities to immediately release all political prisoners. The resolution states that in today’s world a person must not be tried for being a member of an opposition party.

The senators demanded that Minsk  free all political prisoners, including former presidential candidate Aleksandr Kazulin whose wife was present during the Senate’s vote.

The resolution was initiated by Senator Stefan Neselovski, veteran of the Polish anti-communist opposition. A picket, organized by local Belarusians,  was held outside the Senate buildings to express support for the motion.

As already reported, Aleksandr Kazulin was sentenced in July last year to five and a half years imprisonment on charges of hooliganism and organizing disturbances.
