Too soon to talk of an end to monitoring
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Monitoring Committee Co-rapporteur, Hanne Severinsen believes it would be premature to draw conclusions about stopping monitoring the situation in Ukraine.
She spoke of this on Thursday before reporters after a meeting with the Head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vasyl Onopenko.
“If we see that there is progress, we will stop the monitoring and our mission, however at present I am not in a position to say what conclusions we will reach”, Ms Severinsen said.
She also mentioned that there were problems in Ukraine, but that she hoped these would be resolved.
PACE Co-rapporteurs, Hanne Severinsen and Renate Wohlwend are in Ukraine on a fact-finding visit before preparing their report on how Ukraine is honouring its commitments to the Council of Europe.
