MIA to scrutinize its own institutes

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has created a working group to ensure objective and transparent entrance into the MIA’s higher educational institutes

According to the MIA press service, the working group will aim to ensure the openness, transparency and objectiveness of the admission commissions of the institutes, to provide qualified information to prospective students and their parents, a procedure for appealing decisions and the possibility of resolving disputes with the commission’s management.

The planned measures are in response to President Yushchenko’s call to the MIA and prosecutor’s office to step up action to combat corruption in higher educational institutes.

The MIA reports that in 2006 the number of cases of bribe-taking in institutes increased in comparison with 2005.
