Novosibirsk physicists demand an apology from the Russian FSB and compensation for the latter’s attempt to charge them with disclosing State secrets

Two Novosibirsk brothers Oleg and Igor Minin are planning to ask for an official apology from the regional department of the FSB [Federal Security Service]. Interfax states that they were informed of this by the physicists’ lawyer. The apology should, be addressed to the brothers’ place of work – to the Novosibirsk State Technical University.  They also intend to seek compensation for moral and material damages. The lawyer explained that during the investigation a computer was removed, as well as other property, disks etc.

They have also approached the department of the FSB asking that a criminal investigation be launched over the knowingly false denunciation made against them.

The grounds for the criminal investigation against the physicists were provided by a preliminary conclusion by specialists which claimed that the booklet published by the brothers contained State secrets regarding research and design work involving weapons. On 24 August the Novosibirsk regional department of the FSB terminated their investigation.
