30.01.2008
Vasily Aleksanian is still remanded in custody and his lawyers state he is not receiving the medical treatment which his serious condition and the European Court of Human Rights demand.

On Wednesday 30 January Mikhail Khodorkovsky issued a statement declaring his intention to refuse fool in protest at the inadequate medical treatment being provided the former Vice President of YUKOS Vasily Aleksanian who has been held in a SIZO [remand centre] for two years and is now suffering from AIDS.

Khodorkovsky mention’s in his letter to the Prosecutor General that he Vasily Aleksanian’s treatment was made directly contingent on his agreeing to give evidence against Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev.

As we reported here earlier, Aleksanian refused, saying he could not give false evidence in order to save his life.
