Human Rights Documentary Days - International Film Festival


On 25 March at 12.00 a press conference will be held in Kyiv at UKRINFORM (Bohdan Khmelnytsky St, 8/16) to open the Fifth International Human Rights Documentary Festival in Kyiv.

The Festival will run from Friday 28 March for a week, finishing on 4 April. The films will be shown at Kyiv Cinema House and at the Goethe Institute.

The films this year are from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, India, Iran, Israel, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden. Switzerland, the USA, and Ukraine.

The Festival will be opened by a documentary film-sensation of 2007 – a full-length Russian-Swiss film «Mother», produced by Pavel Kostomarov and Anton Kattin. The film received numerous awards: “Kinoshok 2007” – the main prize in the nomination „Film without a film strip”, prize of film press of the festival; the main prize of the XVIII Open Festival of documentary films „Russia”, prize of the film press, prize of Roman Karmen Fund; Prize „For the best East-European film” at the 50th International Leipzig Film Festival 2007; Laureate of the National award „Lavr” (Russia).
