The Nazran District Court in Ingusheita has found that the detention by the law enforcement bodies of the republic of the owner of the Ingushetia.ru site Magomed Yevloev was unlawful.  Yevloev was killed by a police officer after having been detained at the airport. The application was lodged by his family who also asked last week for the former President of the republic Murat Zyazikov to be called as a witness in the case of the killing of the opposition figure.

As already reported, Mr Yevloev was killed on 31 August after being detained at the Ingushetia Magas Airport.  The law enforcement agencies claim that he started a fight with a guard in the car in the course of which one of the police officer’s guns was accidentally fired. Yevloev’s family and colleagues insist that this was  a planned and politically motivated killed with the knowledge of the President of Ingushetia.  A police officer is facing a charge of manslaughter. According to the lawyers representing Yevloev’s family the police officer has been released on an undertaking not to abscond.
