Ministry of Justice invites calls on corruption

The Ministry of Justice is introducing a direct phone line under the title “Society without corruption”. The aim is to prevent corrupt dealings in the central office of the Ministry of Justice and its regional offices. The telephone number is 271-17-86.

Liga-News notes that Ukraine is a “leader” in terms of how widespread corruption is, standing on the corruption ranking charts with Nicaragua and Pakistan. Despite numerous statements from the authorities about “clean hands” and a “democratic approach”, the facts suggest the opposite. In terms of fighting with dishonest officials Ukraine is still far behind developed countries.

At present the legal and organizational principles for preventing corruption are regulated by the Law “On fighting corruption”,  There is also a Law “On organization and legal foundations for fighting organized crime, and as a member of the Council of Europe Ukraine in 1997 signed the Convention on laundering, search, seizure and confiscation of the proceeds from crime and on the financing of terrorism.
