World Congress of Crimean Tatars officially created

Delegates representing 162 Crimean Tatar civic and socio-political organizations from 12 countries have formed this international civic organization to be based in the Crimea

Delegates representing 162 Crimean Tatar civic and socio-political organizations from 12 countries, announced on Friday in Simferopol that they had created an international civic organization to be known as the World Congress of Crimean Tatars.

The participants in the congress passed a declaration proclaiming the creation of an "international non-governmental organization - the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars, as a body uniting and coordinating the efforts of the Crimean Tatar NGOs, which were created in different countries and expressed their desire for mutual cooperation."

It was decided that the central office of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars would be located in Crimea.

The delegates declared the Kurultay (national congress) of the Crimean Tatar People to be the highest authorized body for the World Congress and for those organizations within it.

Refat Chubarov, First Deputy Head of the Mejilis of the Crimean Tatar People, was elected President of the new international NGO.
