According to the regional branch of Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna Party, 20 tents erected by Batkivshchyna were dismantled on Friday evening following a ruling from the Dnipropetrovsk District Administrative Court.

The Court passed the ruling on 12 August at 22.45 following an application from the Dnipropetrovsk City Executive Committee which asked for the erection of tents to be banned from that day on.

It cited Article 182 § 5 of the Administrative Code of Ukraine “in the interests of national security and public order”.

The Party branch says that in order to avoid scuffles with the law enforcement bodies they decided to dismantle the tents themselves.

On 15 August the same Court will examine a second application from the Dnipropetrovsk Executive Committee for a ban on civic gatherings for Independence Day, planned by opposition parties for 18 August,
