Only 8% believe foreign policy meets Ukraine’s interests

In a public opinion survey carried out by the Razumkov Centre, 47.3% considered that Ukraine’s image in the world has changed for the worse over the last year, while only 5.9% felt it had improved

In a public opinion survey carried out by the Razumkov Centre, 46.5% said that Ukraine’s present foreign policy is not in line with the country’s national interests.

46.5% of the respondents believe that Ukraine does not form its foreign policy autonomously, while only 10.1% had the opposite view. 32.8% said that it was not fully autonomous, and 12.8% didn’t know.

47.3% considered that Ukraine’s image in the world has changed for the worse over the last year, while only 5.9% felt it had improved. 29.1% said that it had not changed, while 5.9% did not answer.

Asked if they felt that Ukraine’s foreign policy was consistent and well-considered, 66.0% said no, ; 17% - yes; while 16.8% didn’t know. 

11.4% felt that the policy was economically effective, while 70.2% disagreed with this, and 18.2% didn’t know.

12.5% said that Ukraine’s foreign policy was comprehensible to partner countries; 62.2% believed it was not; while 25.3% didn’t know.

69.7% answered that Ukraine’s foreign policy was not understandable to the public, with 14.1% holding the opposite view, and 16.1% unable to answer.

The study was carried out by the Razumkov Centre from 3 to 8 November 2011. 2009 people over the age of 18 were surveyed from all parts of Ukraine.  The margin error did not exceed 2.3% with a likely variation of 0.95
