Tymoshenko’s daughter accuses authorities of lying about her mother

30.12.2011
The Penitentiary Service have claimed that Ms Tymoshenko was transported to a penal colony in the Kharkiv region on Friday in full comfort and with 12 cases of personal belongings. Her daughter categorically deny all of this, and say that they only learned of her transfer when they came to hand in a New Year parcel for her.

Yevhenia Carr, daughter of the former Prime Minister and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party has given an impassioned address to journalists asking them to not repeat what she insists are lies from the Penitentiary Service.  The latter have claimed that Ms Tymoshenko was transported to a penal colony in the Kharkiv region on Friday in full comfort and with 12 cases of personal belongings.  Her daughter says that she was carried to the van and roughly put in it, despite her bad state of health.

She says that they had taken place in a queue at 6 a.m. on Friday morning to hand over a New Year parcel of things for her mother, only to be told that there was no such prisoner in the SIZO, this being how they learned that she had been taken to the penal colony.

The video was shown on the Radio Svoboda Ukrainian Service site
