Bronze sculptures of Brezhnev and Kuchma from Dnipropetrovsk taxpayers’ pockets

In Dnipropetrovsk almost 2 million UAH of city funding has been spent on an artistic composition including bronze sculptures of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and former Ukrainain President Leonid Kuchma.
The statues will form part of a display entitled “People and Events” on the Square marking the 80th anniversary of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast. There will be 42 bronze sculptures , with 15 portraits and 27 memorial plaques with information about the individuals and the history of the area. Leonid Kuchma is the only former leader’s whos sculpture is standing alone.
Radio Svoboda reports that there have already been expressions of outrage from the Ukrainian People’s Party.
