Police give their version of removal of protest camp

Individuals in municipal authority jackets, but not producing ID, have forcibly dismantled a camp of protesters against the language law on hunger strike outside Ukraine House.  Two people defending themselves from the attack received injuries.

The assault began at 6.00.  However at around 2 a.m. two men arrived, one of whom identified himself as an assistant to the Head of the Podil District Administration and in threatening mode, demanded that the protesters get out. They also ripped banners and disrupted information standards.

The police claim that those who arrived at 6 a.m. were municipal street cleaners, and were only cleaning.
