Students set to flee the Crimea
EuroMaidan SOS writes that the student activists above are frightened to show their faces and have every reason. After they were attacked by people with Russian flags a few days ago during an anti-war demonstration, and after representatives of Russia’s State Duma turned up at their university and announced that after completing their studies, they would receive a Russian-style degree, they have decided to leave. According to one of the activists who is just waiting to leave, students are collecting their documents en masse.
In a joint statement, the Minister of Education Serhiy Kvit and head of the parliamentary profile committee Lilia Hrynevych have assured Crimean students that their right to education will be safeguarded.
They will be able to take the external entry exam [ZNO] and transfer to other Ukrainian institutes. They promise that the rules of entry will be changed and the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and Ukrainian academic community will facilitate this.
