More armed attacks on Luhansk regional election commissions

The Luhansk Regional Branch of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine reports that on Wednesday,   armed pro-Russian militants smashed up the premises of No. 110 electoral district’s district election commission [DEC] in Lisichansk.

Threatening the head of the commission Antonida Melnyk and staff of the DEC with automatic rifles, the gunmen broke down the door to one of the rooms, removed all computer technology, documentation and stamps.  According to DEC members, the police guarding the premises helped the gunmen to take out the property.  The city police station is just 100 metres away.

The DEC of district 109 held a meeting on Tuesday where it registered observers and adopted a resolution to the Central Election Commission on the need for ensuring proper security. On Wednesday the Krasny Luch city council building was taken over by armed militants, and some appeared at the home of one member of the DEC in the evening.

CVU notes that at least this time there were no robberies, beatings and abductions.

These are just two of a larger number of incidents in which the pro-Russian militants use their weapons and thuggery to sabotage the May 25 elections.
