12 thousand displaced people still without proper winter accommodation
According to the deputy head of the State Emergency Services, Vasyl Stoyetsky over 61 thousand people from eastern Ukraine have returned home. At a briefing on Sept 26, he said that just in the previous 24 hours 2, 446 people had returned.
The overall number of people registered as internally displaced persons [IDP] comes to 330, 984.
12 thousand people are currently in premises which are not suited for winter conditions, Stoyetsky acknowledged, though he said that the government is working on this. Regional staff, together with the local authorities, have identified 1, 379 buildings which could be used to house 18 thousand people, he said.
