Transparency International solutions for coalition accord

Transparency International in Ukraine suggests introducing comprehensive amendments to legislation on the funding of political parties and election campaigns as a major step to reducing political corruption

Transparency International in Ukraine has also proposed its suggestions for the participants in the coalition negotiations currently underway.  It suggests introducing comprehensive amendments to legislation on the funding of political parties and election campaigns.

On Oct 29 the Petro Poroshenko Bloc published the draft Coalition Agreement for public discussion.  One of the points of this agreement is to adopt legislation without delay on state funding of political parties and election campaigns with these taking on board GRECO recommendations.

In August and September Transparency International in Ukraine together with IFES-Ukraine drew up a comprehensive concept framework for amendments to legislation in this field which could reduce political corruption and bring Ukraine’s legislation into line with international anti-corruption standards.  They propose that this be taken as the basis for amendments to legislation in order to regulate funding of parties and election campaigns.
