Court overturns Irpin Council’s dismissal of its Mayor

On 12 November the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal allowed the appeal brought by Irpin Mayor Myroslava Svystovych who was dismissed by deputies of the Irpin City Council on 3 April 2007.
The decision by the Irpin City Council was declared unlawful and Ms Svystovych reinstated as Mayor.
The deputies of the Council called as witnesses (including the Council Secretary Anatoly Moroz) failed to appear in court. However the head of the BYuT faction Oleh Sotnikov, who had not been summoned, attended. He demonstrated
