Rustam Muminov deported from Russia
This came after the European Court of Human Rights passed a ruling calling for the deportation procedure to be halted. On Thursday a cassation appeal was scheduled against the ruling of a Moscow court to deport Muminov
According to the human rights Civic Assistance Committee, yesterday, 24 October, at 7 in the evening, Muminov was flown to Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
Muminov was removed from Russia after the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg had passed a ruling calling for the deportation procedure to be halted. On Thursday, 26 October, the Moscow City Court was scheduled to hear a cassation appeal against the ruling of the Tverskoy Court in Moscow to deport Muminov.
Human rights activists stress that this is a flagrant violation of legislation. Muminov was detained on 17 October in Moscow for not having registration. Human rights groups fear that he could face torture or even death in Uzbekistan.
