Crimean Parliament partially meets the demands of local journalists

Parliament in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea has met one of the demands made by journalists in allowing them to receive information from different departments, not only from the press centre.

As reported, in the morning members of the Crimean press boycotted parliament, considering the new rules on accreditation to be unlawful. It remains to be determined how the filming of plenary sessions will take place. Other issues allegedly violating legislation in the new rules for media accreditation will be considered by the prosecutor’s office.

 “The Committee on Monitoring Press Freedom in the Crimea presented its application today to the prosecutor’s office. We list infringements of 8 Ukrainian laws, violations of the Constitution and the Criminal Code and ask the prosecutor to react by protesting against the document [the new rules]”, Volodymyr Prytula, Head of the Committee explains.
