Participants in a Human Rights Day demonstration in Minsk detained
Around 40 protesters formed a human chain on October Square in Minsk on Human Rights Day, holding photos of the former Belarusian presidential candidate Aleksandr Kazulin and other imprisoned members of the opposition.
Over twenty members of the opposition were detained by police officers during an unsanctioned political rally in Minsk.
The protest action was to mark Human Rights Day. Among those detained was the Head of the United Civic Party of Belarus Anatoly Lebedko. Officers of the law enforcement agencies said that those detained were being taken to the district police station to ascertain the circumstances.
