Single database created for children growing up without parents

Unfortunately this much-needed database for orphans, children deprived of parental care and children from families in crisis is only for the Lviv region. It is aimed at simplifying the procedure for adoption.

Details about almost 5 thousand children from Lviv and the region have been input into the database.  Half of these children need care and adoption. According to the Head of the regional service for children, the new database which contains full information and a photograph of each child will speed up the adoption procedure which can take up to a year. Access to the information base is strictly limited and under the control of the Security Service [SBU]. There is also a database of Ukrainian families waiting to take in a child, with this containing around 50 families.
