Good news for private religious school in Donetsk

16.03.2009

On 13 March the private school “Rostok” in Donetsk received the permit it needed for carrying out its educational activities in the rented premises. The day was a festive occasion for the children and their parents following the problems already reported here with the local departments of the Sanitary Epidemiological Service [SES]. The latter has now issued the necessary permits.

The positive outcome was assisted by the position taken by the Minister of Health V. Knyazevych and the Donetsk Regional Administration who took an interest in the case.

The Regional Administration suggested that the SES receive additional documentation from the metallurgic enterprises of the city confirming reduction in their output capacity. It was specifically the location of these enterprises which the SES was raising as an obstacle to the functioning of this school run by the Bible Institute “Word of Life”. (the Ukrainian Christian Evangelical Church),  The conflict was continuing for its second year.

In February a number of National Deputies sent a joint appeal to the Minister of Health and the Head of the Donetsk Regional Administration over the threatened closure of “Rostok”
