04.06.2010
The fact that all four are different is indicative of the grotesque absurdity of a situation where police escort thugs who beat up peaceful protesters, while the police see fit to detain only the protesters

Four court hearings took place on 4 June in the Dzherzhynsky District Court in Kharkiv over environmental activists detained by the police in the early morning on Wednesday 2 June. Four entirely different decisions were taken. Albina Harkushyna’s case was closed since the protocol had been incorrectly drawn up with no signature of the person preparing it. Ruslan Sklyarov received an administrative fine of 150 UAH which he is planning to appeal against the in the court of appeal, since he did not resist the police while being detained. Valeria Holovashkina was freed from administrative liability and received only verbal comments, while Yevhen Khiznyakov was sentenced to 3 days administrative arrest, beginning today at 18.30.
