Ukrainians believe police most often violate human rights

45.7% of those surveyed by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology [KIIS]  consider that law enforcement bodies violate human rights more often than other structures and high-ranking individuals.

The results were released by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology at a press conference on 15 December.

The respondents were asked the question: “Who in Ukraine is most often the direct culprit in human rights violations?”  You could name several variants.

45.7% named the law enforcement bodies;

41,8% - bodies of local self-government ;

39,9% - ministries and other central bodies;

35,6% - Deputies (MPs) of the Verkhovna Rada;

27,5% - the Prime Minister;

20,6% - big business, oligarchs;

16,4% - criminal gangs;

8,2% - political parties;

3,1% - the media;

8,4%  respondents didn’t know.

The survey was carried out from 16 November to 6 December by KIIS together with the Institute for Human Rights and Prevention of Extremism and Xenophobia over the entire country, with 2,042 respondents aged 18 and above surveyed.  Margin of error does not exceed 2.3%,
